Common Questions and Answers

Range Question: Why won't my gas range burner ignite? Answer: If your Frigidaire or Café range won’t light, it may have a blocked burner port, weak spark ignition, or a failed spark module. Moisture from spills can also temporarily interfere with ignition.

Microwave Question: Why is my microwave running but not heating food? Answer: The magnetron, high-voltage capacitor, or diode may have failed. In Panasonic and Sharp models, this issue typically requires inspection of the high-voltage system for shorts or component damage.

Freezer Question: Why is there frost building up in my freezer? Answer: Frost buildup is often due to a torn door gasket, failed defrost heater, or faulty defrost timer. LG and Frigidaire models with auto-defrost require clear airflow and properly functioning sensors to prevent frost.

Ice Maker Question: Why is my ice maker not producing ice? Answer: It could be a frozen water line, defective inlet valve, or failed ice maker module. GE and KitchenAid ice makers may also have sensor or ejector motor issues that stop production.

Garbage Disposal Question: Why is my garbage disposal humming but not grinding? Answer: This usually means the flywheel is jammed. InSinkErator and Moen models often have a reset button and a manual hex key slot to free the impellers and restore function.

CLEARWATER BEACH APPLIANCE ISSUES
PINELLAS COUNTY SERVICE AREA

Refrigerator Making Clicking Sounds but Not Cooling This is often found in GE, Samsung, and Whirlpool models and is typically caused by a faulty compressor start relay, overload protector, or failing compressor. The clicking is the relay attempting to start the compressor without success.

Washer Smells Musty or Moldy Common in LG, Whirlpool, and Samsung front-load washers, this is due to residual moisture around the door gasket, detergent buildup, and lack of regular cleaning cycles. Running a tub clean cycle and leaving the door open after use helps prevent this.

Dryer Takes Multiple Cycles to Dry Clothes This issue is frequently seen in Maytag, GE, and Frigidaire dryers and is often caused by a clogged vent, faulty moisture sensor, or weak heating element. Poor airflow is usually the root cause and should be checked first.

Dishwasher Making Loud Grinding Noise Found in Bosch, Whirlpool, and Samsung dishwashers, this sound often comes from a broken wash pump impeller, debris in the circulation motor, or a worn pump bearing. The grinding typically increases as the cycle progresses.

Oven Preheats Too Slowly Seen in KitchenAid, GE, and Frigidaire ovens, this can happen due to a weakened bake element, defective temperature sensor, or incorrect voltage supply. The oven may reach temperature eventually but take much longer than expected.

Range Oven Door Not Closing All the Way This problem occurs in LG, GE, and Samsung ranges when door hinges wear out, spring tension is lost, or debris blocks the door seal. A poor seal leads to heat escaping and uneven cooking.

Microwave Plate Not Centering Correctly Common in Panasonic, Sharp, and Samsung models, this usually indicates a damaged drive coupler, worn turntable ring, or broken rotation motor shaft. The plate may spin off balance or stall during operation.

Garbage Disposal Leaking from Bottom This issue often affects InSinkErator, Moen, and Waste King units and usually means the internal seal around the motor shaft has failed. Once internal seals leak, the disposal often needs to be replaced entirely.

Freezer Is Cold but Ice Cream Is Soft This occurs frequently in GE, Frigidaire, and Samsung freezers when air circulation is blocked, evaporator coils are iced over, or the thermistor gives inaccurate readings. Ice cream needs stable, low temperatures that even minor airflow issues can disrupt.

Ice Maker Freezes Up and Stops Working Brands like LG, KitchenAid, and Samsung often have this issue due to a frozen fill tube, defective thermistor, or improper door sealing that lets in warm, moist air. Clearing the ice manually may help short term, but the root cause must be addressed.
